LUKOIL has reached another milestonnee with seven million tonnes of polyethylene produced at Stavrolen, the company’s major petrochemical facility.
A large-scale modernization, begun at Stavrolen six years ago and still underway, aims to upgrade the production process and diversify the product range by means of introducing more marketable items.
Stavrolen’s first start-up facilities for gas processing, with the annual capacity of 2.2 billion cubic meters, were commissioned in 2016. Feedstock for Stavrolen is supplied by pipe from LUKOIL’s oil and gas fields in the Caspian Sea, which ensures the processing of associated petroleum gas into petrochemical products with high added value.
